Description
“Are you looking for me?” the elegant man—with a look of anxiety in his eyes—asked a young woman descended from the East that had once lain stagnant in Mongol jars. Startled, the pale young woman lifted her round face toward him, gazing at him with eyes sheltered by the sincerity of her eyelids—the eyelids of one shielding herself against an unseen wind. “I am not looking for you,” she replied, with an apology that seemed to escape her involuntarily.
