Veronica Decides to Die A 1998 novel by Paulo Coelho, which revolves around the issue of enjoying emotions, and was inspired by his personal experience in mental hospitals, which he has already been admitted to more than once

Veronica, a 24-year-old woman living in Ljubljana, Slovenia, has all the pleasures of life, but decides to commit suicide by taking a large amount of sleeping pills, saying goodbye to her boring routine. While waiting for her death, she decided to read a magazine, in which she found an article entitled “Where is Slovenia?” She decided to write a letter to the magazine claiming that her suicide was because people didn’t know where Slovenia was. Her plan failed, and she woke up in a mental hospital in Slovenia, where she was told she had one week to live.
