Ahmed Murad (born February 14, 1978) is an Egyptian writer, novelist, screenwriter, photographer and graphic designer. He graduated from the Lycée Al-Horreya in Bab Al-Louq in 1996 before joining the Higher Institute of Cinema to study cinematography. He graduated in 2001 with first place in the department. His graduation films, “The Wanderers – The Three Papers – And On the Seventh Day” won awards for short films at festivals in England, France and Ukraine.
He has written several novels, including: Vertigo, Diamond Dust, and The Blue Elephant, which were shortlisted for the Arabic Booker Prize in 2014, as well as the novel 1919, The Land of God, and others.
He participated in writing several films, including The Blue Elephant, based on his novel of the same name. He also wrote the film The Originals.
