Al-Sadiq Al-Nihoum

Al-Sadiq Al-Nihoum (1937 Benghazi – 1994 Geneva) was a Libyan writer, literary critic, and philosopher. He was born in Benghazi to a sailor father who lived more on the move than in a settled life, and a mother who was ill and later died when he was only two months old. This forced his father to feed the infant with sheep’s milk.

He wrote in the fields of literary criticism, essays, short stories, novels, comparative religion, and philosophy. In addition to Arabic, he was fluent in German, Finnish, English, French, Hebrew, and Aramaic.
