An Israeli politician born in 1949, he served as Prime Minister more than once. He was known for his support for the establishment of settlements and the Russian immigrant movement, and for his hardline stance towards the Palestinians. He is the first Prime Minister of Israel to be born in Israel and the youngest to hold this position.
