Bouthaina Shaaban (born 1953) is a Syrian politician who served as a political and media advisor to the presidency under Bashar al-Assad until his overthrow in 2004. She was the first Minister of Expatriates in the Syrian Arab Republic between 2002 and 2008, and was considered the face of the Syrian government to the outside world at that time. She has published numerous books in both English and Arabic.
