Firas al-Sawah

Firas al-Sawah (born January 1, 1941) is a Syrian writer specializing in mythology and the history of religions since 1976. Born in Homs, Syria in 1941, he graduated from the Faculty of Economics. Since 2012, he has been a professor at Beijing Foreign Studies University, teaching Arabic civilization and the history of religions in the Near East. He has published 26 books on mythology, history, and the history of religions. He was imprisoned twice during the period of the union with Egypt and a third time in 1978 on charges of sympathizing with the communists.
