Imam Jalal al-Din al-Mahalli. (791 AH – 864 AH), a Muslim religious scholar, Shafi’i jurist and interpreter. One of the authors of Tafsir al-Jalalain. He was buried in the city of Rashid in Beheira.
He is Imam Jalal al-Din Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Shihab al-Din Ahmad bin Kamal al-Din Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Ahmad bin Hashim al-Abbasi al-Ansari al-Mahalli al-Asl – in reference to Mahalla al-Kubra in Gharbia – the Cairene Shafi’i. He was born at the beginning of Shawwal in the year seven hundred and ninety-one 791 AH corresponding to 1389 AD in Cairo and grew up there, so he read the Qur’an, memorized texts and worked in the arts of science.
