Johanna Spyri, whose real name was Johanna Luise Heusser (born June 12, 1827 in Herzl in the Swiss canton of Zurich – died in Zurich on July 7, 1901), was one of the most famous children’s story writers of the nineteenth century, and the creator of the famous character Heidi.
