Muhammad al-Ghazali al-Saqqa (1335-1416 AH / 1917-1996 AD) was an Egyptian Islamic preacher and thinker, considered one of the most prominent preachers and figures of Islamic thought in the modern era. He was known for his renewal of Islamic thought and his opposition to extremism and fanaticism in religion. He was famous for his literary style of writing and was nicknamed the preacher of the call. Al-Ghazali’s criticism of the ruling regimes in the Islamic world caused him many problems, both during his stay in Egypt and in Saudi Arabia.
