“Mustafa Wahbi” Saleh Al-Tal (May 25, 1899 – May 24, 1949) is a Jordanian poet, one of the most famous poets in Jordan and the most prominent poets of contemporary Arabic poetry and one of the pioneers of the cultural movement in Jordan. He was nicknamed the Poet of Jordan, and Arar. His poetry is of quality and sobriety, and is against injustice and colonialism. He received the Renaissance Medal of the Third Class. Among his sons is Wasfi Al-Tal, who served as Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan during the 1970s, and Saeed Al-Tal, who served as Deputy Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan during the 1990s. He obtained a law degree in 1930. He mastered Turkish and learned French and Persian.
The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) adopted Arar as an Arab symbol of culture for the year 2022.
