Suhail Idriss (1925–2008) was a Lebanese novelist and writer, founder and editor-in-chief of the Beirut magazine Al-Adab. He was one of the founders of the Lebanese Writers’ Union and served as its secretary-general for several terms. He translated dozens of books from French into Arabic, most notably works by Jean-Paul Sartre, Albert Camus, and Régis Debray. His wife is the writer Aida Matarji, and his son is the writer Samah Idriss.
