Uday Madanat (1938 – November 10, 2016) was a Jordanian novelist, essayist, and short story writer. He is considered one of the pioneers of short story writers in Jordan.
Uday Madanat studied law at Damascus University. He witnessed the founding of the Jordanian Writers Association in 1974, of which he was a member. He began his literary career in 1983, and has written numerous short stories and novels, most notably “The Twelfth Eccentric Patient,” “Good Morning, Neighbor,” “The Intruder,” “A Stormy Night,” “Streets of the Soul,” “Those Ways,” and “Miss Izdihar and I.” He was deeply interested in the short story and worked on a book entitled “The Art of the Short Story: Point of View and Experience,” in addition to his critical and literary studies.
