The celebrated Canadian author W.B. Kinsella, who achieved literary fame with his novel “Barefoot Joe,” which was adapted into the 1989 film “Field of Dreams,” starring American actor Kevin Costner, has died at the age of 81. Kinsella published more than 30 works of poetry, novels, and nonfiction and was awarded the Order of Canada, one of the country’s highest honors. Kinsella’s life took a major turn after a head injury in a car accident. He said he lost interest in writing fiction, but he returned to writing again and completed his final work, “Russian Dolls.”
