Zakaria Tamer is a Syrian writer, journalist, and short story writer. He is considered one of the most prominent story writers in the Arab world. He was born in Damascus in 1931 and was forced to leave school in 1944. He co-founded the Arab Writers Union in Syria and previously headed the Syrian Television Drama Department.
