Francis Fukuyama is one of the most famous American thinkers outside the United States, especially after the publication of his famous book The End of History and the Last Man. His ideas and writings continue to generate discussion and debate to this day, especially after the Iraq War, which he initially supported, then returned to criticize the way the American administration performed after the war.
Fukuyama finished his latest book on political development and the role of law, where he gave several lectures at Johns Hopkins University about this book, which was an opportunity for me to meet him and raise an extensive discussion about the Middle East, democratization, and Islam in his office at the same university. Then the deep intellectual dialogue that took place between us developed into this book.
I wanted to attach to the text of the dialogues a group of intellectual articles by Fukuyama that he wrote at different times and I put them
in their sequential order to clarify the development of his view of Islam and the Middle East, especially after the Arab Spring revolutions.
