Description

The book “Love from Afar” is a musical opera set in the 12th century between the French province of Aquitaine, the city of Tripoli, and the open sea. The opera consists of five acts. When Jauffre breathes his last in Clémence’s arms, the Countess rebels against divine will, blaming herself for the tragedy and deciding to enter a convent. In the final scene, she appears absorbed in prayer, but her words are ambiguous, leaving one to wonder whether she is praying kneeling to God or to her distant lover.
