Numerous books have addressed the wars led and waged by the United States against Iraq in early 1991, which began with the imposition of a comprehensive blockade in August 1990. Upon reading most of these books, both Arabic and foreign, we notice that their approaches and approaches fall into three groups: The first group is biased toward the war against Iraq and its justifications, while the second group considers the war against Iraq an unforgivable crime motivated by American and Western interests in the region. The third group has attempted to be neutral in the name of objectivity and scientificity. Therefore, opinions differ regarding the motives and causes of the war.
If we accept the view that the war was aimed at liberating Kuwait, then why did the Americans destroy the foundations of life, its requirements, and its future in Iraq with their naval forces? Many countries have entered territories they consider part of their territory, or have entered the territory of other countries for one reason or another, without the Americans destroying them, even if they intervened. Indeed, the United States itself entered foreign territories by force in many instances. So why destroy Iraq?
This book attempts to answer this question objectively by studying and analyzing books and documents related to the US campaign against Iraq, while also drawing on Iraqi documents and newspapers that greatly assisted us in presenting the Iraqi perspective in a detailed and clear manner.
