Description

Eternal return remains shrouded in mystery for many, both the general public and specialists, despite its daily practice and its central role in religious behavior. This mystery likely stems, in particular, from its often ambiguous and confusing presentation. Eternal return is no longer merely a behavior, idea, or ancient myth; it has become a comprehensive religious system encompassing the core components of any known religion. It possesses its own beliefs, myths, and rituals, and we see it clearly present in our behavior and lives today. We must discern both its positive and negative aspects, for these two forms of awareness are what transform it into either a source of creativity or a tool for oppression and tyranny. Furthermore, this system of eternal return has become a breeding ground for fundamentalist doctrines, which have veered towards Salafism and a return to the past. When it became religiously ideologically indoctrinated, it transformed into a coercive and authoritarian system, particularly in the realms of religion and politics, ultimately becoming a destructive force. In literature and art, great creators have incorporated it into their works as a profound and significant myth. In science, its echoes have appeared in mirror universe theories, holistic theorists, and interpretations of the Big Bang theory. Books that discuss eternal recurrence are very few, and most emphasize only one aspect of it. This book, however, attempts to examine the entire system of eternal recurrence, from beliefs and myths to rituals, and even investigates it in poetry, novels, photography, and especially in the cosmology and physics. The book seeks to answer the following question: Is eternal recurrence a beautiful but misleading idea? Or is it a religious concept cloaked in philosophy and science?
