Description
Saadallah’s texts form a living symbol, expressing all that stirs in the soul and in the heart, and all that transpires in every home. Wanos occupies a place in the Arab psyche because he delves deep into the heart of Arab suffering, harvesting images from it and adorning them with masks from the distant past. A storyteller recounts to the audience of a popular café the tale of the Mamluk who lost his head in the turmoil of the power struggle. Wanos employs the techniques of play and storytelling, where one story begets another, and the technique of a play within a play, making things appear as if a game transforms into something serious.
