“I love her,” she tells him, pulling it closer. She feels a pang of discomfort that their personal life has become so public and visible, but it seems this is a result of Nathan’s powers. He sees what others don’t, like a doctor or a priest—a trusted professional, unconcerned with the privacy of relationships.
“Do you really love her?” His lips appear pale, his eyes are downcast, and his eyelashes are thick, like pieces of felt.
At that moment, the door opens with a clang, and Han enters. Nathan quickly pulls the photo from Serene’s fingers and places it back in the bag.
