“Harfoush: (Jumps lightly, facing the audience) Misery and wretchedness, this is the fate of our friend Hanzala. He lives now in hardship, and his trials will intensify and increase. He doesn’t know the cause of his misfortunes, nor does he understand the secret of his suffering.
So he must endure torment upon torment, and walk a long path of pain. I dislike gloating, just as I dislike pity. To be blind is one thing, and to have sound eyes and yet not see is another. But let’s begin the story from the beginning. The story begins in prison.”
