Description
The writer, like any human being, is a product of their environment. This environment shapes the writer’s atmosphere, inspiring scenes, characters, and themes which they, in turn, transform into dramatic artistic images that re-enact, reshape, or symbolize reality. If I were not Palestinian, if I had not lived through the horrific experience of occupation and the life of a traditional Arab woman, if I had not been fortunate enough to have circumstances that helped me reject the past, if I had not been trained by professors at Birzeit University and its enlightening atmosphere, would I have written my novels in this form and with these themes?
