Description
No religious figure has garnered the same level of consensus as John the Baptist. His veneration in several religions appears to be the second miracle after the miracle of his birth. He is also the only person identified with Jesus Christ and the Prophet Elijah, to the point of confusion between them. He is the only one for whom feasts and celebrations are still observed today. A thorough examination of John’s life and his message, which has been adopted by several religions, reveals that this would not have been possible had they not all stemmed from a single source and followed one God, regardless of the different names given to Him. How much we need today to revive religious figures who unify our understanding of humanity’s well-being and happiness, which is the ultimate goal of all religions. While the foundation of this work is the Mandaean holy book, “Drasha d-Yahya,” everything related to John has been compiled from the sacred texts of other religions, forming the interfaith legacy of John the Baptist. It is called “The Scrolls of John” to encompass all that has been said about him.
