Description
In Coming of Age, the French and international thinker Jean-Paul Sartre tells the story of the psychological crises experienced by Mathieu, the main character, as he is torn between fulfilling his duty to the girl he loves and who has become pregnant with him, and his absolute desire for freedom and his stance on the various issues facing his society. Perhaps the most wonderful aspect of the novel is Mathieu’s desperate love for the strange girl, Eve, who gives the story a special, delicious flavor.
Coming of Age is the first part of the Paths of Freedom trilogy, considered the largest and most wonderful existential novel. Sartre was able to make his existential philosophy accessible to all readers by casting it in a unique narrative form.
