He discusses the effects of hatred and fanaticism in contemporary societies, and reviews how these phenomena spread and their impact on human relations and social cohesion.
This book is one of the early Arabic books that tried to read the Arab situation from within, and saw in the Arab disintegration a manifestation of “hate”. The author is one of the few Arab politicians whose hearts did not deviate from the truth, and did not remain silent while they saw their nation floundering and slipping and being plundered by hands and its enemies appearing over it.
The defeat of June 1967 did not pass without leaving its great earthquake in the consciousness and conscience of the author, who was the Prime Minister of Jordan, and he was aware, more than anyone else, of how the defeat happened, why it happened, and the extent of its effects.
His first book (The Conspiracy and the Battle of Destiny) sheds light on the reasons for the defeat, and sees that the nation is exposed to an external conspiracy targeting its entire existence. In this book, the author continues to dismantle the defeat and read its internal reasons, which made the nation “our society of hatred”, and prepared it for successive defeats!
Thus, [Saad Jumaa] was not just a prime minister, in a country that has been organically linked to the Palestinian cause since its existence, and at the most dangerous historical moment that the Arab nation has gone through in its modern era! His position was more important than his position, and his awareness always led him and strengthened his belonging to his nation and culture, and made him capable of what is happening now as if he were with us.
Therefore, the duality of “conspiracy / hatred” that reveals the relationship between the external enemy and the internal enemy – which the author had preceded others to – continues to prove its validity, and the depth of the vision and belonging that stand behind it.
The decision-maker, when he is aware and affiliative at the same time, cannot be separated from the group’s awareness and conscience. Therefore, the reader of this book will sense in the author the characteristics of the organic intellectual who combines the pessimism of reason and the optimism of will, with a conscientious language that sees the devastation without turning a blind eye to it or getting involved in embellishing and justifying it, and deliberately mobilizes, sharpens and mobilizes awareness not for the sake of cognitive luxury, but for the sake of the “battle of destiny”.
But we need such a conscientious intellectual, and such a pioneering visionary politician who does not lie to his people, and such a book that supports the vision with experience!… How much we need [Saad Jumaa], and we miss him in this dark night of ours!
