Considering the text as the center of our Islamic cultural circle, and based on the linguistic approach to analyzing texts, Nasr Hamid Abu Zaid presents us with his seminal study on the Qur’anic text, attempting to discover its nature and concept, to reach the essence of the complex relationship between the text and culture, in terms of its formation by it first, and its formation of it second; and also attempting to research the relationship between the Qur’anic text and other texts on the one hand, and its mechanisms in generating meaning on the other hand, through the concepts of “miracle and eloquence”, “ambiguity and clarity”, and “interpretation and exegesis”. Finally, this study seeks to reveal the transformation that has affected the concept of the text and its function, by standing at the thought of “Abu Hamid al-Ghazali” as the thinker in whom the currents and trends of religious thought, both official and popular, met.
