I saw myself in the mirror of the river, and I found no difference between me and the king except in my clothes

On the eve of the coronation of Ruritania’s King Rudolf, he is drugged by his brother, Prince Michael, so that he is unable to perform and attend the coronation ceremony and is thus chosen as king in his place. Rudolf is kidnapped after losing consciousness and imprisoned in a castle in a small town called Zenda. However, Rudolf’s aides were ready to complete the coronation ceremony no matter the circumstances. Two of Rudolf’s aides persuaded an English visitor named Rudolf Rassendyll, who had met King Rudolf by chance in the past, to take the place of the king in the coronation ceremony. They had a conversation where they realized that they were distant cousins.
