The story revolves around Quasimodo, the ugly, hunchbacked bell ringer at Notre Dame Cathedral, who is adopted by the church since childhood. Despite his frightening appearance, he is kind-hearted and loyal. In contrast, there is Esmeralda, the beautiful gypsy who captivates the hearts of men with her beauty and dancing.
Quasimodo loves Esmeralda with a pure love, while the evil judge Claude Frollo seeks to control her with his sick lust. Also involved in the story is the soldier Phoebus, to whom Esmeralda is attached but who betrays her trust.
