Description
The events begin with Lockwood, who has recently moved to Thrushcross Grange, a large house on the Yorkshire meadows, which he has rented from Heathcliff, and this place is near Wuthering Heights. On his first day in his residence, Mr. Lockwood spends the night in Heathcliff’s house and meets Cathy, the wife of Heathcliff’s son and the daughter of Catherine, Heathcliff’s lover. That night, he sees a terrible dream: he sees the ghost of Catherine Earnshaw, begging him to let him in. Mr. Lockwood asks Mrs. Nelly Dean, the housekeeper, and from here the events of the novel begin about the past thirty years, spoken by the nanny who lived with this family and saw its successive generations and became familiar with their characteristics.
