This important book, by a select group of contemporary Arab thinkers\u2014Dr. Mohammed Abed al-Jabri from Morocco and Dr. Hassan Hanafi from Egypt, with a foreword by Professor Faisal Jalloul from Lebanon\u2014raises crucial issues in the fields of thought, history, religion, society, and politics. This significant achievement is therefore considered a reconstruction of Arab political thought in a different era. The preparation of this book, “Dialogue Between East and West,” aims to answer the question of the nature of the Arabs in their second political birth. The topics addressed in the book constitute an important part of the components of Arab culture and political thought, and discussing them within the context of evaluating and critiquing their experience in the East and West contributes to the reconstruction of Arab political thought anew. Questions of freedom and democracy are intertwined with questions of secularism, modernity, and Islam, as well as the relationship between the people and the state, and fragmentation and unity. These issues stimulated a spirit of debate between two prominent thinkers: Dr. Hassan Hanafi from Egypt and Dr. Mohammed Abed al-Jabri from Lebanon. Abed al-Jabri from Morocco contributed to the discussion, enriching our cultural and political life with his insightful and objective analysis of our crucial issues.
