Dar Al-Shorouk has published a new edition of the engaging memoir by the great thinker Dr. Abdel Wahab El-Messiri. It traces his individual transformations in thought and methodology while simultaneously chronicling an entire generation, or at least a segment of it. The transformations of the subject of this memoir are by no means disconnected from the events unfolding around him. From this perspective, the events of the author’s life are not significant in themselves, but rather their importance lies in the light they shed on his intellectual development. The author understood many of the events of his personal life through the same underlying themes and analytical frameworks he employed in his studies and research, not the other way around.<\/p>\n
