Antarah gained his freedom through his bravery, and freedom, in turn, fueled his courage and daring. This was accompanied by widespread fame, spreading throughout the tribe of Abs that Antarah was their hero and their sharp sword.

Amidst the charge and retreat, the advance and the retreat, stood the muse of his poetry and the possessor of his heart, Ablah, who decreed that he should spend his life on horseback trying to appease her. He died, unsuccessful, despite the epics he recorded and the legend he forged with sword and match.

His biography also recounts his death during one of his raids against the Banu Bati’, and in the legend, Antarah appears darker-skinned than his detractors, who persist in their error. Yet, he is the victorious hero, the crutch of the helpless and the sword of the oppressed, the ambitious one who sacrifices everything for immortal glory. Within the covers of this book lies his complete Diwan, meaning all the verses attributed to Antarah, in addition to those whose attribution to him has been definitively confirmed.

Since the Diwan of Antarah ibn Shaddad serves as a literary reference for researchers, authors, critics, and students, none of them are concerned with the rhyme scheme of these poems as much as they are with tracing the poet’s work across various literary genres and purposes.

Therefore, the compiler of the Diwan chose to categorize the poems according to the genre and purpose they explored. At the beginning of the Diwan, Antarah’s Mu’allaqa was included, followed by all the verses related to: Antarah’s chivalry, his boasts, his emotional poems, and his love poetry.

Antarah ibn Shaddad ibn Amr ibn Muawiyah ibn Qarad al-Absi. One of the most famous knights of pre-Islamic Arabia and a first-rate poet. He was from Najd. His mother was an Abyssinian woman named Zabibah, from whom he inherited his dark complexion. He was known for his noble character and high self-esteem, and was described as forbearing despite his fierce strength. His poetry is characterized by its tenderness and sweetness.

He was deeply in love with his cousin, Ablah, and his poems rarely fail to mention her. In his youth, he met the poet Imru’ al-Qais, and he participated in the War of Dahis and Ghabra. He lived a long life and was killed by Asad al-Rahis or Jabbar ibn Amr al-Ta’i.

This collection of poetry expresses chivalry, love, and courage, blending wisdom with descriptions of battles and emotions in a powerful Arabic style and distinctive poetic eloquence.

[949,940,2470
2728,1050,1086,1122
post-27462","product","type-product","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","product_cat-general-literature","product_cat-arabic-literature","product_cat-poetry","product_tag-literature","product_tag-love","product_tag-poetry","product_tag-wisdom","pa_book-author-antarah-ibn-shaddad","first","onbackorder","sale","shipping-taxable","purchasable","product-type-simple
["GET
