This literary form, foreign to its culture, remained hesitant and unincorporated. For a long time, theater was merely a collection of stories told by audience members, receiving little real attention from writers and intellectuals.<\/p>\n<p>However, over time, some Arab countries, such as Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt, began to witness the emergence of a new type of theater that combined seriousness and humor, acting and singing. Gradually, Arabic theater began to be influenced by Arabic literature, with many Arabic stories being adapted for the stage, either verbatim or after being modified to suit Eastern tastes. Sometimes the texts were presented in classical Arabic, and other times in local dialects to make them more accessible to a wider audience. French and English literature were among the most prominent influences on the nascent Arab theater.
