They failed to grasp that it was simply a retreat from the sterile clamor of partisan conflicts that plagued our society at that time, and that the ivory tower is the elevated place from which free thought overlooks abstract truths, untouched by personal desires and interests. I believe that every person, especially thinkers and artists, has a high, free space in their life where they can retreat into themselves and see things in their purest form. The ivory tower of a person is like the high tower of a dovecote. During the day, the dove descends to the ground to gather its sustenance, then flies back to the heights of its tower. If it possessed the same capacity for reflection as humans, it would have contemplations in its tower, just as we contemplate in ours… So, to those interested in understanding the meaning of “the ivory tower” for me, I invite you to read this book. You may even notice some traces of the past and its concerns in the present.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
A collection of articles and intellectual reflections that discuss the relationship of the thinker to society, and call for intellectual independence and distancing oneself from the noise of life in order to have a clearer and deeper view of reality.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":27655,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":[],"product_cat":[949,940,923],"product_tag":[1148,2728,1359,1343],"class_list":["post-27657","product","type-product","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","product_cat-general-literature","product_cat-arabic-literature","product_cat-literary-articles","product_tag-culture","product_tag-literature","product_tag-philosophy","product_tag-thought","pa_book-author-tawfiq-al-hakim","first","onbackorder","sale","shipping-taxable","purchasable","product-type-simple"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/awraqonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product\/27657","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/awraqonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/awraqonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/product"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/awraqonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=27657"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/awraqonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/27655"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/awraqonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=27657"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"product_cat","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/awraqonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_cat?post=27657"},{"taxonomy":"product_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/awraqonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product_tag?post=27657"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
