Just as museums preserve historical artifacts, the National Theater should preserve theatrical heritage.

Years passed, and Tawfiq al-Hakim died. The problem became not only the failure to keep his theatrical legacy alive on the stage, but also its unavailability even as printed texts. A former Arab Minister of Culture complained to me that during a visit to Cairo, he searched libraries for several of al-Hakim’s plays to complete his collection.

He was told they were out of print and hadn’t been reprinted for years. Hence my delight at Dar al-Shorouk’s project to republish the complete works of the father of Arab theater, Tawfiq al-Hakim. Nations do not grow or flourish except to the extent that their heritage is present in their present; otherwise, they unravel and lose both their past and future—in history, politics, literature, and the arts.

A book that includes supplications and intellectual and spiritual reflections that discuss the relationship between man and God and issues of faith and religious thought, in a literary and philosophical style that raises questions about religion and reason.

[949,940,921,833,834
2687,2728,1359,1343
post-27768","product","type-product","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","product_cat-general-literature","product_cat-arabic-literature","product_cat-literary-texts","product_cat-religions","product_cat-philosophy","product_tag-islam","product_tag-literature","product_tag-philosophy","product_tag-thought","pa_book-author-tawfiq-al-hakim","first","onbackorder","sale","shipping-taxable","purchasable","product-type-simple
["GET
