Today, we stand on the threshold of a new phase in modern Arabic literature, a phase in which young writers are about to take up the torch that illuminates the future. This is a responsibility whose weight they have undoubtedly begun to feel. Therefore, they have started to raise new issues, believing it their duty to offer a decisive opinion on them. Thus, they have debated matters such as classical and colloquial Arabic, literature for the elite and literature for society, art for art’s sake, and other topics that are endlessly discussed once the door is opened. There is nothing wrong with discussing these matters, nor is there any harm in the clash of opinions in the fields of literature, art, and thought. All these discussions, God willing, will ultimately vanish into thin air in the conscience of the true artist, for the true artist does not listen to mere words but focuses on their work.
