This study examines the philosophy of recognition as a social act and a key to understanding human relations and social and moral conflicts. It draws on the conception developed by the German philosopher Axel Honneth, rooted in Hegel’s philosophy. Recognition is viewed as a social act that contributes to shaping the self, granting it legitimacy and status within its environment. Conversely, its absence leads to marginalization and contempt, thus giving rise to a struggle for recognition and dignity.<\/p>\n
The study is based on the premise that Umayyad poetry, within the context of the political and social transformations of the Umayyad era, provided fertile ground for expressing this struggle. Poetry became a tool for asserting self and status, whether through pride, praise, satire, or love poetry, transforming the poetic text into a document that expresses the concerns of both the individual and the community. This research adopted a methodology combining inquiry, analysis, and interpretation to trace the manifestations of the struggle for recognition in poetic texts and to uncover the psychological, social, and political motivations that drove the poets. The study comprises an introduction, three chapters, and a conclusion. The introduction is dedicated to the epistemological foundations of the philosophy of recognition, while the first chapter addresses the nature of recognition in relation to truth and falsehood. The second chapter focuses on the political and social conflict as a struggle for identity and status, and the third chapter examines emotional recognition and its impact on self-formation.<\/p>\n
