Erich Fromm (March 23, 1900 – March 18, 1980) was a German-American psychologist and humanist philosopher. Born in Frankfurt, the only son of Orthodox Jewish parents, he immigrated to the United States in 1934. He attended the Universities of Frankfurt and Heidelberg, where he studied social sciences, psychology, and philosophy.
