Yoshihiro Francis Fukuyama (born October 27, 1952) is an American philosopher, political economist, author, and university professor. He is best known for his 1992 book The End of History and the Last Man, in which he argued that the spread of liberal democracies, capitalism, and the free market across the globe may mark the endpoint of human social, cultural, and political evolution. Fukuyama has been associated with neoconservatives, but later distanced himself from them.
