Ihsan Abdel Quddous

(January 1, 1919 – January 12, 1990) was an Egyptian writer and novelist, and one of the first Arab novelists to explore themes of love outside the bounds of traditional morality in his stories. Many of his works were adapted into films. Ihsan Abdel Quddous’s literature represents a significant turning point in Arabic fiction, as he successfully transcended local boundaries to achieve international recognition, and most of his novels have been translated into numerous foreign languages.
