Imam al-Qurtubi

Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Abi Bakr ibn Farh, known as al-Qurtubi, his kunya was Abu Abdullah. He was born in Cordoba, Andalusia, where he learned the Holy Quran and grammar, and expanded his studies in jurisprudence, Quranic readings, rhetoric, and Quranic sciences. He moved to Egypt and settled in Munyat Bani Khasib (in present-day Minya) until his death on the 9th of Shawwal, 671 AH. He is considered one of the great interpreters, and he was a jurist, hadith scholar, pious, ascetic, and devout worshipper. He also composed poetry.
