He was born in the city of Ain al-Arab (Kobani), Aleppo Governorate, in 1965, where he completed his primary, preparatory, and secondary education. He attended the University of Aleppo, studying natural sciences in the Faculty of Science from 1985 to 1989.
His first literary work was the book “Poetry and Poets: Translated Poems from Ancient and Contemporary Kurdish Poetry,” published in 1991. This was followed by numerous books, studies, translations, and novels. Alongside his literary writing and research, he worked as a natural sciences teacher for several years in schools in Ain al-Arab until 2000. He then emigrated to Europe and settled in Germany as a political refugee, never to return to his homeland. For several years, he has worked in Germany as a translator for the immigration authorities and in refugee camps.
