Stephen King (born September 21, 1947) is an American author and a standard-bearer of horror literature, known for his novels that fall within the horror genre. He is a recipient of the National Book Foundation Medal for Outstanding Achievement in American Literature, and his books have sold more than 350 million copies worldwide.
