The Tempest is a play by William Shakespeare, probably written in 1610–1611, and thought to be one of the last plays that he wrote alone. After the first scene, which takes place on a ship at sea during a tempest, the rest of the story is set on a remote island, where Prospero, a wizard, lives with his daughter Miranda, and his two servants: Caliban, a savage monster figure, and Ariel, an airy spirit. The play contains music and songs that evoke the spirit of enchantment on the island. It explores many themes, including magic, betrayal, revenge, and family. In Act IV, a wedding masque serves as a play-within-a-play, and contributes spectacle, allegory, and elevated language.
GRET HIMANS WHO CHANGED THE WORLD
The Wright Brothers, Orville Wright (1871-1948) and Wilbur Wright (1867-1912), are two American inventors credited with inventing the first successful airplane in history and achieving the first controlled and manned flight on December 17, 1903 in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
The Wright brothers were passionate about mechanics and aviation, and started out as bicycle designers before applying their knowledge to the field of aviation. Their aircraft, the “Wright Flyer”, featured fixed wings, a special engine, and a three-dimensional control system, making it the first aircraft that could be effectively driven and steered.
Their success was not easy, but rather the result of many experiments and great determination, as they developed special theories about aerodynamics through extensive testing on gliders before arriving at the successful design.
The Wright brothers’ achievement was a turning point in the history of aviation, opening the door to the development of modern aircraft, changing the face of the world and transportation forever!
