A historical-scientific analysis explores the origin of the first ten patriarchs/prophets in the Torah by comparing their figures with kings who ruled the ancient Sumerian cities, and it proposes that the Torah transformed these kings into prophets through religious narrative. The book presents archaeological evidence and research methodologies to reread those figures in light of the history of the civilizations of Mesopotamia.

Description

The first scientific study to unravel the mystery of the true identity of ten of humanity’s founding fathers, whom we have traditionally considered, in whole or in part, to be prophets: Adam, Seth, Enosh, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch (Idris), Methuselah, Lamech, and Noah. The study concludes that they were ten Sumerian kings who ruled well-known Mesopotamian cities, but the Torah transformed them from kings into patriarchs/prophets with whom humankind began to appear on Earth.

The question of Adam and his true identity, then the question of who accompanied him (Eve and their children), and then the question of the prophets who followed him (Idris and Noah), has always sparked much debate and controversy among the general public, as well as in scientific and religious circles.

This has generated numerous questions and widespread discussion. The matter has always been shrouded in confusion and debate, to no avail. The solution has always been to close this first chapter of human history and accept what is known and common, without ever satisfying the insatiable curiosity and thirst for knowledge that accompany humanity and whose pulse is only quenched by a convincing answer and argument.

Archaeologists, historians, and scholars of comparative religion have avoided this area due to the lack of scientific evidence to support it. Addressing it was seen as a futile exercise.

The issue of Adam and the patriarchs/prophets who followed him—whom we might call, along with Adam, the “pre-flood prophets” or “early patriarchs before the flood”—poses a genuine challenge in historical and religious studies. From a religious perspective, they represent the first human lineage. Archaeologically, they left nothing behind, and if they did, it was swept away by the flood. Chronologically, their existence is subject to countless estimates, ranging from thousands of years in terms of their age to their distance from us. On a historical level, they are a mixture of historical mythology in which gods, humans, and nature are intertwined, appearing as if they were historical entities shrouded in myth.

Thus, we stand before human origins, sometimes astonished, and often resigned to the axioms of the holy books and their popular interpretations, which do not tell us the truth as it should be.

The problem of the pre-Flood patriarchs or prophets is the first problem of origins, and therefore it is hidden behind a thick veil of ambiguity and unanswered questions. It is therefore necessary to address it scientifically and uncover its secrets and mysteries.

This book will reveal all of this and open wide the door to exploring the truth about most of the prophets: how did they appear? Where did they come from, when, and why? This will be achieved through compelling scientific evidence from archaeology and scientific research methodologies.
