Description
“My main aim was to present what Christians and Muslims believe concerning Jesus—peace be upon him—and to highlight the commonalities, which are far greater than either side expects. As the reader will gradually discover, different expressions and terms often conceal agreement in substance.”
This book traces the Qur’anic perspective on Christian doctrine by extracting relevant Qur’anic texts and combining them to form a Qur’anic narrative of the Gospel, complementing the four canonical Gospels: John, Matthew, Mark, and Luke, and the apocryphal Gospels such as the Gospels of Matthew and James. This is achieved through a comparative study of Christianity in the Quranic text, on the one hand, and the canonical and uncanonical Gospels and other books, on the other. It presents numerous points of convergence and similarity between the two texts, highlighting commonalities between the two faiths, as well as offering historical interpretations of their points of divergence. It also includes the complete text of the Gospel of Matthew, comprising twenty-eight chapters.
