“The Beginning and the End” by Imam Ibn Kathir al-Dimashqi (d. 774 AH) is a monumental Islamic historical encyclopedia, considered one of the most important historical references. It covers the history of creation from its beginning (the heavens, the earth, and the angels), through the stories of the prophets and the Prophet’s biography, up to documented historical events up to the year 767 AH, and concludes with the events of the Day of Judgment, arranged in an annalistic style.
