Description
This book presents a modern, integrated perspective for understanding the characteristics of juvenile delinquency and the care and rehabilitation needs of juvenile offenders.
It is a perspective that proposes a philosophy of care that shifts from punishment and social stigma to rehabilitation, empowerment, restoring human dignity, reconciliation with oneself, family, and society, and acquiring social competence.
This work consists of three complementary sections. The first presents the categories of juvenile delinquency, the characteristics of each, and the extent of their need for rehabilitation and empowerment.
The second section presents the dimensions of a comprehensive assessment of the juvenile’s situation, including their problems and potential, leading to the creation of a file that forms the basis for developing their specific care policy. The third section presents care methods and programs that address problems and unleash the potential for growth and social integration.
It concludes with a summary outlining the components of professionalizing work with juvenile delinquents in terms of academic preparation and career path.
