Description

This novel recounts a tragic period in human history, spanning from the fall of the Kingdom of Granada in 1492 to the expulsion of the Moriscos between 1609 and 1614. Today, 400 years after the expulsion decree, this work stands as a literary and moral testament to this era, or rather, to the horrific crimes committed by the Inquisition against Muslims, Jews, and Protestants. Alongside this tragedy lies an impossible love story born from pain and sorrow, between two exiled Moriscos aboard a pirate ship. Just as this era was darkened by the crimes of these courts, the novel is also rich with profound scenes and engaging intellectual dialogues about the beginnings of the Reformation and Enlightenment in Europe, as seen in the works of Martin Luther, Calvin, Cervantes, and Velázquez.
